Networking is a skill, for some it is inherent, for others a necessary task.
Take some time and define who and what you are looking for in your network. Every once and a while you will stumble across someone who is amazing on accident. But it is easier to find who you are looking for if you know who they are in the first place.
This in itself is a job, however it can provide good benefits. So be proactive and create a list of people and industries that you want to meet on purpose. Remember that people and industries that you can benefit will usually be very happy to work with you as well.
