E911 Emergency Systems Charge

The E911 surcharge funds community 911 emergency telephone systems.

Taxes and Fees NCT collects federal, state, and local taxes and other fees and surcharges levied on communications providers or the sale of goods and services on behalf of the government entities that impose these charges. These include, but are not limited to, sales taxes and municipal franchise fees. These taxes and fees vary by state and local jurisdiction and are gerally based on a percenatage of the inĀ  state usage.

State law authorizes counties and 911 authority boards to charge a per line or wireless access per month to pay for equipment and other costs (excluding personnel costs) of providing 911 services. Charge in excess of $0.70 per line per month must be approved by the PUC. The individual counties and 911 authority boards set this charge and receive the money. The amount of the 911 Surcharge on your bill will vary, depending on where you live.

VoIP E911 tax is based on a perline or per seat/line basis.
